print finishes
Every finish, explained
From luminous foil to deeply pressed letterpress — explore the finishes behind our stationery, what each one looks and feels like, and which suits your design.
Every finish we offer is produced in-house at our Leicestershire studio, so what you see here is exactly what arrives at your door. No two finishes behave the same way under light, ink, or touch — here's what sets each one apart.

foil printing
Luminous, metallic detail
Best for:
statement invitations, monograms, names & dates
Foil is applied using heated dies that press metallic film into the card, giving lettering and motifs a genuine reflective shine that shifts as light catches it. It's the finish most associated with luxury stationery, and for good reason — nothing else has quite the same depth.
We offer gold, silver, rose gold, copper, and a handful of seasonal shades. Foil works best on bold, simple shapes and typography; very fine, intricate detail can lose definition.

Letterpress
An impression, pressed deep
Best for:
classic, tactile designs on thick cotton card
Letterpress uses a custom-engraved plate to press your design directly into thick, soft cotton card — leaving a tactile indent you can feel as much as see. It's one of the oldest printing methods in the world, and one of the most satisfying to hold.
Because it's a physical impression rather than ink sitting on the surface, letterpress suits restrained, well-spaced designs with generous white space. It's traditionally printed in a single ink colour, though duotone is available on request.

embossing & debossing
Dimension, without ink
Best for:
monograms, borders, subtle texture on plain card
Embossing raises a design above the surface of the card; debossing presses it below. Both use a metal die under pressure and heat, and neither requires ink — the effect comes purely from light and shadow across the raised or recessed detail.
This finish is often combined with foil (foil-embossing) for a richer, more dimensional result, or used alone — "blind" — for a quiet, refined detail that only reveals itself at an angle.

Digital Printing
Full colour, precise detail
Best for:
watercolour designs, photography, intricate illustration
Digital printing reproduces your design in full, accurate colour with no limit on the number of shades or gradients used — ideal for watercolour florals, detailed illustration, or photography. It's also the most budget-friendly and fastest of our finishes.
While it doesn't have the tactile quality of foil or letterpress, digital print can be elevated with a complementary spot UV or foil detail layered on top — giving you colour accuracy and a touch of dimension together.

Spot UV
Gloss, exactly where you want it
Best for:
modern designs, contrast detail, layered finishes
Spot UV applies a clear, glossy lacquer to precise areas of your design, creating contrast against an uncoated matte card beneath. The result reads as a subtle sheen in normal light and a striking highlight when it catches the light directly.
It's a popular way to add a contemporary, graphic edge to digitally printed designs — highlighting a monogram, border, or pattern without the cost or lead time of foil.
